Absences

Regular school attendance is important for children’s progress.  Please contact the school office before 9.00am. if your child is going to be absent.  If you do not have a telephone please make arrangements to notify the school in an alternative way.

Children in the school grounds out of school hours

Children are welcome to use the adventure playground apparatus and the field areas for playing games out of school hours.  Dogs are discouraged, and must be on a leash.   No scooters, skateboards or bikes to be ridden under the covered areas and pathways around our buildings.

Children are expected to keep away from buildings and to leave the school grounds before dark.  Parents are responsible for their children’s conduct and welfare when they are in the school grounds outside of school hoursof 8.30am to 3.00pm.

Children leaving the school grounds

Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds during school hours unless accompanied by a staff member or parent/caregiver.  A note is required from parents who wish their child/children to go home for lunch, and students must report to the office when leaving and returning to school. Your co-operation in these matters is greatly appreciated.

Children’s property

All school clothing and equipment should be clearly named.  If property is named it is usually easier to trace the owner of the lost articles.

The school cannot accept responsibility for damage to or loss of items of personal property brought to school (toys, watches electronic devices etc).

The wearing of jewellery to school is not permitted under our Uniform Policy and we seek parents co-operation in this matter.

Morning tea and lunch procedures

Children eat their morning tea and lunch under teacher supervision in the classroom.  This is designed to ensure adequate supervision in a settled environment, and to eliminate rubbish from our school grounds.  Parent / Whanau assistance in supplying nutritious and healthy food is appreciated. Children are encouraged to have named water-bottles with them in the classroom to keep fluids up to allow greater focus in the classroom.

Money and valuables

If children are required to bring money to school a note from the school will be sent home beforehand. When children bring money or valuables to school they are encouraged to give them to their teacher for safe-keeping.  The school cannot accept responsibility for lost money or valuables .

We discourage children from bringing unnecessary amounts of money to school.
